The officers of this service are responsible for managing the Transportation - Operations and Commercial wings - of the Indian Railways. IRTS forms the interface between the Railways and the public, and also between the Railways and the corporate sector. It is also responsible for the generation of revenue for the organization

Qualifications & Other Criteria

• Adegree from any recognised university.

• Candidates must be within 21-29 years of age

• Candidates must be a citizen of India or, if of any other nationality, must be of Indian origin

•The direct recruitment is done through the Civil Services Examination conducted by the UPSC. The candidate has to appear for a Written Test and an Interview or a Personality Test.
